Dimensions: Height: 8.5 cm (3.35 in); Maximum diameter: 9.5 cm (3.74 in); Period: 12th-13th century; Condition and provenance: Comes with the original drum-shaped container and detachable flower-shaped incense holder. This incense burner is in excellent condition, without cracks, defects, or signs of repair. The celadon glaze is well-preserved, naturally displaying charming gold streaks, and the exposed foot and wheel marks are consistent with traditional firing techniques. This incense burner comes from a private collection in Hong Kong. It was acquired by a Hong Kong collector in the 1970s through the European antique market and has remained in the same family collection ever since. Description: Inspired by traditional Chinese war drums, this exquisite incense burner combines elegant design with practical function. It consists of a cylindrical drum-shaped container and a detachable flower-shaped incense holder, which can be used as a covered incense burner or a standing incense burner. The flat lid has a circular opening in the center for placing the incense wick. Raised decorations encircle the edges, body, and base, faithfully reproducing the riveted structure of an ancient leather drum. The detachable incense burner has a petal-shaped top and a hollow, conical stem underneath, which can be securely inserted into the lid and hold a stick of incense. The unglazed base reveals the terracotta body and clear concentric wheel-thrown patterns, typical characteristics of Southern Song Longquan porcelain. This incense burner skillfully blends wheel-throwing techniques, raised decorations, and exquisite celadon glaze, embodying the understated elegance of Song Dynasty aesthetics. It is also a refined work of art, combining aesthetic and practical value.
