The original kiln location is visible on the back, and the unglazed base retains natural burial deposits and signs of age. This piece comes from a private collection in Hong Kong. Decades ago, a Hong Kong collector acquired this piece through the British antique market, and it has remained in the same family's collection for many years. Description: This exquisite celadon figure is one of the outstanding representatives of the Song Dynasty court female musician. The figure stands, holding a wind instrument in both hands, her lips lightly touching the mouthpiece, vividly portraying the natural expression of playing. Her hair is neatly styled in two buns, complementing her serene, delicate, and peaceful face. She wears a long robe with overlapping collars, the robe flowing to the ground, the soft folds highlighting the unique elegance of Song Dynasty sculpture. The small vents on the back demonstrate early ceramic-making techniques used to prevent damage during firing. The entire statue is covered in a Hutian celadon glaze, exhibiting a soft, light blue hue, with a smooth, glass-like surface. The lighter areas of the glaze subtly reveal the porcelain body, while deeper layers add depth and dimension to the sculpture. The unglazed flat base exposes the pure white porcelain body, along with naturally buried sediments and the marks of time—all testaments to its long preservation. This exquisitely crafted and proportionally balanced statue, enhanced by the understated beauty of the celadon glaze, is a prime example of Southern Song ceramic art and a refined work of literati aesthetics that embodies the essence of Song Dynasty aesthetics.
