The white rim and rich brown painted decoration are clear and intact. Original wheel marks are visible on the exposed foot, exhibiting natural aging consistent with Song dynasty artifacts. Private collection, Hong Kong. Description: This elegant vase features a slightly flared mouth, a long, cylindrical neck, a flat, rounded body, and a delicate foot, displaying typical characteristics of Song dynasty literati floral vessels. The milky white rim is covered with exquisite hand-painted brown decorations, encompassing the entire body. Below the rim is a band of upright lotus petals, followed by alternating geometric rhomboid patterns, including crackle and hexagonal tortoise-shell patterns, each separated by striking brown lines, highlighting the vertical elegance of the neck. The shoulder and body are decorated with dynamic wave patterns surrounding a central swirling design, within which a cluster of freely blooming peonies is depicted. The petals are rendered with lifelike detail, and the parallel brushstrokes of the wave patterns create a sense of movement and depth. The body is pale yellow, with clearly visible concentric circles. The stoneware exhibits natural grain and a patina developed over time. This vase employs the classic Jizhou polychrome porcelain technique, first applying a layer of white decorative slip, then painting directly with iron-brown pigment under a transparent glaze. This vase was intended for displaying flowers in a study or elegant interior. Well-preserved, with exquisite painting and superb craftsmanship, it is a quintessential example of Song Dynasty Jizhou polychrome porcelain.
