The tea bowl has a gently flared rim, exhibiting the classic conical profile of the Song dynasty; the base is a wide, shallow dish with a low foot rim and a raised center for stable placement of the tea bowl during brewing and serving. Both the tea bowl and base are glazed in a milky white glaze and decorated inside and out with hand-painted iron-brown decoration. Inside the bowl, two concentric brown circles encircle five curled chrysanthemums, their stems elegantly curled and petals meticulously depicted—a signature floral motif of Cizhou ware. The bowl and base are decorated with flowing cloud patterns, edged with carefully painted brown designs. The unified decorative style creates visual harmony, with the deep iron-brown glaze contrasting sharply with the warm white glaze, showcasing the unrestrained character of Cizhou ceramics. Both pieces retain exposed foot rings, revealing the beige body and showing wheel marks, kiln debris, and the characteristic signs of age found on Song Dynasty Cizhou porcelain. This set employs classic Cizhou firing techniques: first, a layer of white decorative glaze is applied to the body, then the design is painted with an iron-brown glaze, and finally a transparent glaze is applied. This set was specifically designed for brewing and serving tea. Complete and well-preserved, this exquisitely decorated and harmoniously proportioned tea set is an outstanding representative of Song Dynasty Cizhou ware tea sets.
