This vase comes from a private collection in Hong Kong, acquired in the late 20th century and preserved for many years. Description: This elegant plum vase is a classic example of black-glazed polychrome porcelain from the Jizhou kiln of the Song Dynasty. The vase follows the traditional plum vase shape, with a small, flared mouth, short neck, broad, rounded shoulders, and a graceful curve that tapers upwards from the delicate foot rim. Its balanced proportions make it suitable for both serving wine and displaying in an elegant interior space. The vase is covered with a rich, glossy black glaze, adorned with delicate silver speckles. The body is decorated with vivid pine branch patterns, painted with iron-rich pigments, a typical characteristic of Jizhou kiln splashed-color porcelain. The warm reddish-brown, amber, and ochre hues blend naturally with the glossy black glaze, creating a striking contrast that vividly portrays the vitality of a pine tree in an impressionistic style. The brushstrokes are fluid and confident, reflecting the vibrant artistic spirit unique to Song Dynasty folk kilns. The pigments have firmly integrated into the glaze during firing and are remarkably well-preserved. A ring of pale yellow body is visible around the rim of the bottle, a trace of the glaze naturally thinning; the unglazed foot reveals the pale yellow stoneware body, bearing authentic traces of trimming and natural signs of aging. This bottle was made by applying iron pigment to a black glaze and then firing it once at high temperature, a technique characteristic of the Jizhou kiln. This piece could have been used for storing wine, academic research, or family display; it is in excellent condition, with a glossy glaze, exquisite decoration, and elegant form.
