拍品描述

Dimensions: 9.2 cm (3.62 inches) in diameter, 234 g in weight; Period: 10th-13th century; Condition and Provenance: This bronze mirror is intact without cracks, and the central knob is undamaged. The inscription and floral patterns on the back are clearly legible. The mirror surface is covered with a thick layer of patina, with some areas still retaining the original black lacquer-like patina. The patina has penetrated deep into the metal, showing no signs of artificial corrosion or modern polishing or restoration. This mirror is from a private collection in San Francisco, California, USA, and was purchased from an antique dealer in Los Angeles in 2002. Early acquisition records and labels are well preserved. Description: This Song Dynasty bronze mirror, inscribed with the characters "内福" (Nei Fu), is a prime example of orthodox imperial bronze craftsmanship. The mirror body is circular, with a solid central knob surrounded by a cloud pattern. The back is decorated with four lush branches of fruit and flowers, arranged exquisitely. The inscription "内府" (Nei Fu) is cast above the mirror surface, with continuous beaded decoration around the edge. The back retains its original black lacquer patina, while the front is covered with multiple layers of natural bronze patina. "Neifu" refers to the internal affairs management agency of the Song Dynasty court, indicating that this mirror originated from a court workshop rather than a private workshop. This mirror is exquisitely cast, with soft and restrained decorative lines, perfectly embodying the tranquil and elegant aesthetic taste of the Song Dynasty. All the patina and corrosion are natural formations from long-term burial. Such artifacts are relatively rare and are important cultural relics for the study of Song Dynasty official bronze ware production and court artifacts.
