Description: This rare pair of Liao Dynasty yellow-glazed high-necked, trumpet-mouthed vases showcases the unique ceramic tradition of the Liaobei kilns. Each vase is 38.5 cm high, with gracefully elongated lines, a trumpet-mouthed mouth, a slender neck, rounded shoulders, a full body, and a narrow, unglazed lower section. Its balanced proportions and elegant shape embody the classic high-necked form of the Liao Dynasty. The upper part of the vessel is covered with a warm, yellowish-brown lead glaze, exhibiting a rich amber luster. The glaze is covered with natural brown spots and subtle kiln-transformation marks, giving it rich layers and a unique charm formed during the firing process. The lower part of the body and the foot ring are unglazed, revealing the light gray coarse pottery body, with clearly visible wheel marks left by traditional hand-forming techniques, a typical characteristic of Liaobei ceramics. The inner wall of the rim is also glazed, with a natural flow and signs of long-term use. The exposed clay on the flat bottom shows soil deposits, small pores, and primitive kiln marks, preserving the rustic charm of Liao Dynasty folk kiln firing techniques. Yellow lead glaze is one of the iconic decorative styles of Liao Dynasty ceramics. This pair of vessels combines practicality and decoration, and was used for storage, food storage, and indoor display. Due to its excellent preservation, mature glaze, and natural aging of the body, this pair of vessels is a model of Liao Dynasty yellow-glazed pottery.
