Description: This Song Dynasty Jian ware tea bowl is an outstanding representative of famous Chinese tea sets made for competitive tea drinking during the Song Dynasty. The bowl has a classic Jian ware conical shape, with a slightly flared rim and a noticeable inward curve below the rim. The body is full and rounded, with a compact foot. The deep interior was designed specifically for holding stirred tea, reflecting the refined tea culture of the Song Dynasty. The bowl is made of the dark iron-rich clay characteristic of Jian ware, giving it a weighty and dignified quality. The foot is finely finished, and the bottom is inscribed with the "Gongyou" mark, retaining kiln marks and firing traces, reflecting the characteristics of traditional Jian ware craftsmanship. The bowl is entirely covered in a striking red glaze, decorated with partridge feather patterns. Dense dark brown spots dot the bright red glaze, forming lifelike partridge feather designs. The size and density of the spots vary naturally, creating a rich visual effect. The glaze is thinner and darker brown at the rim, while the interior has a thick, glossy glaze, with the decoration flowing smoothly and continuously. Jian ware was highly prized in the Song Dynasty court and among the upper class in tea ceremonies, serving as a preferred material. The "Gongyou" mark signifies its importance as a tribute item. This bowl has a classic shape, a heavy iron body, and a rare red-ground partridge feather glaze. The mark on the bottom further demonstrates the exquisite craftsmanship and artistic achievements of Song Dynasty ceramics.
