Description: This Qing dynasty red lacquer and gilded openwork wooden panel is a large decorative architectural and furniture component, measuring 192 cm long and 39 cm high. Traditionally used as a decorative beam in four-poster beds, interiors of buildings, or formal halls, it showcases the exquisite craftsmanship of Chinese gilded wood carving. The panel is long and horizontal, with its original red lacquer frame, cloud-shaped hanging brackets carved below, and decorative supports on both sides. The composition of this wood carving is grand and imposing, designed to attract attention. The entire carving is crafted from multiple layers of wood, combining openwork carving, deep relief, and three-dimensional sculpting techniques. The design follows a highly balanced symmetrical layout. Both ends are adorned with large phoenix patterns facing inwards, their feathers layered and wings intricately carved, each phoenix holding a ribbon entwined with blooming peony branches. Openwork floral patterns create a rich sense of layering and strong dynamism. The central scene depicts an exquisite pavilion, with finely carved roofs, windows, railings, and figures, showcasing traditional narrative themes such as theatrical stories or gatherings of literati. Pine trees, birds, and peonies surround the pavilion, creating a harmonious coexistence of figures, plants, and architecture, forming a vibrant and colorful picture. The entire wood carving is decorated with scrolling peony patterns, the branches flowing smoothly, and the meticulously carved openwork design creating a refined yet powerful visual effect. The wooden base is covered in deep red lacquer, with gilded accents on the carved decorations. The remaining gilded sections present a warm, rustic tone, with some areas subtly revealing the underlying red lacquer layer, creating a classic Chinese red and gold decorative style that reflects the traditional characteristics of high-quality local gilded wood carvings. This magnificent long panel skillfully blends phoenixes, peonies, pavilions, and figures to create an exquisite decorative scroll. The phoenix symbolizes prosperity and good fortune, while the peony represents wealth and glory. With its complex multi-layered carving techniques, grand size, and significant historical and decorative value, this piece showcases the exquisite craftsmanship of traditional Chinese wood carving, making it both a highly collectible work of art and a striking interior decoration.
