The celadon glaze is smooth and bright, with a soft, translucent appearance. The chrysanthemum-patterned rim and carved petal outlines are well-preserved, and the exposed foot retains natural traces of long-term preservation, such as soil deposits, kiln red, and sediment. Provenance: Private collection, New York, USA. Description: This celadon glaze chrysanthemum-patterned washer from the Hutian kiln in Jingdezhen, Song Dynasty, is a scholar's piece. It measures 10.5 cm in diameter and 3.5 cm in height. Designed as an elegant brush washer, it could also serve as a graceful small display plate. The shallow body is decorated with a chrysanthemum pattern, with undulating edges. Vertical chrysanthemum petals extend downwards along the outer wall, resembling a blooming flower. The shallow basin, smooth inner wall, and low foot rim outline a slender and elegant silhouette, fully embodying the thin-bodied craftsmanship and exquisite aesthetics of Hutian kiln porcelain. The glaze is bluish-white, a hallmark of Song Dynasty Jingdezhen ceramics. The glaze is crystal clear, resembling jade, and features fine crackles naturally formed over hundreds of years. Faint traces of brown clay on the surface further enhance the piece's antique charm. The undecorated inner wall allows the elegant bluish-white glaze itself to become the primary artistic highlight. The low foot rim is meticulously finished, revealing the pure white porcelain body and preserving kiln marks, old soil deposits, and traces of traditional firing techniques. Hutian bluish-white porcelain, often referred to as "jade porcelain," represents the pinnacle of Song Dynasty ceramics. This chrysanthemum-patterned washer, with its elegant shape, thin body, and exquisite glaze, is a coveted treasure for high-end Chinese ceramic collectors.
