Description: This Warring States period Hetian jade reclining ox ornament is a superior round jade carving, carved from a single piece of Hetian jade, depicting a reclining ox. The animal's muscle lines are smooth and lifelike. The spiral horns are finely detailed, and the limbs are tucked under the body, with simple yet powerful lines. The entire jade beast is covered with a reddish-brown patina, giving it a simple and elegant appearance with a soft and restrained luster. During the Warring States period, water buffalo symbolized power and wealth. Large, round jade water buffalo carvings like this were high-end collectibles at the time and are extremely rare today. It perfectly showcases the exquisite round carving and polishing techniques of the Warring States period and is an important artifact for the study of animal jade carving art during that era.
