Description: This is a Southern Song Dynasty Jizhou ware tea bowl with a leaf pattern, 14.5 cm in diameter and 5 cm in height. Made specifically for the refined tea culture of the Song Dynasty, this bowl is one of the most representative and highly regarded works of Jizhou ware. The bowl has a traditional conical shape with a wide, flared rim, gently sloping walls, and a slightly high foot. Its elegant contours resemble a bamboo stalk, giving the bowl a graceful and balanced character. The exposed foot reveals a warm beige body, with clean and crisp trimming, fine and even wheel marks, and clearly visible firing marks—all typical characteristics of Jizhou ware craftsmanship. The bowl is glazed inside and out with a deep black glaze, which is full, smooth, and glossy, with a delicate sheen, presenting an overall natural and understated beauty. The glaze transitions naturally at the rim, with a thinner layer revealing a warm brown edge. Two leaf-shaped imprints are preserved inside the bowl, a unique leaf decoration technique of the Jizhou kiln. Before firing, real leaves are placed on the glaze surface; the organic matter is burned off in the kiln, leaving the outline and delicate veins of the leaves permanently imprinted on the black glaze. The other imprint retains its natural, irregular edges, showcasing the realistic texture of fallen leaves and creating a tranquil, poetic aesthetic. The Jizhou kiln leaf bowl is one of the most innovative black-glazed ceramics of the Song Dynasty, cleverly integrating natural imagery with advanced pottery techniques. The image of a single fallen leaf embodies the spirit of Song Dynasty Zen Buddhism, complementing the tea-drinking tradition. The wide bowl is particularly suitable for observing tea foam at Song Dynasty tea ceremonies. This bowl has an elegant shape, rich glaze, and well-preserved double-leaf pattern, fully demonstrating the exquisite craftsmanship and artistic achievements of Jizhou kiln ceramics. It has both historical significance and extremely high collection value.
