拍品描述

Dimensions: 52 cm (20.47 inches) in diameter, 3200 g in weight, 15th century. Condition and Provenance: The round seal is intact without cracks or obvious deformation. The engravings of the Bodhisattva, disciples, and cloud patterns on the obverse are mostly clearly discernible, with only minor signs of aging and discoloration. There are slight old dents on the edges. Multiple concentric circles of inscribed scriptures are clearly visible on the reverse. There are no modern additions, repairs, or welding marks. This seal is from a private collection in Los Angeles, California, USA, acquired in 2011 with the assistance of an antique dealer in Bangkok. The original acquisition documents and complete set of archival photographs are well preserved. Description: This 15th-century bronze round seal, decorated with a Bodhisattva image, was a specialized sealing component for large Buddhist statues, forged from thick copper sheet. The obverse features a finely engraved central Bodhisattva image, surrounded by attendant Bodhisattvas and disciples, against a background of dense cloud patterns. The figures are solemn, the lines are smooth and delicate, and the composition is full and rich. The concentric rings on the reverse are engraved with multiple layers of religious scriptures, an indispensable part of the consecration ceremony for Buddhist statues. This artifact possesses a deep, natural patina and exquisite engraving. As an important accessory to Tibetan Buddhist sculptures, such a large, original seal is extremely rare. It is a valuable material for studying the customs of 15th-century Buddhist consecration ceremonies and bronze engraving techniques.
