Dimensions: 36.5 cm long x 15.8 cm high (14.37 in x 6.22 in), approximately 1.2 ft x 0.52 ft, Han Dynasty (2nd century BC to 3rd century AD). Condition and Provenance: Overall well-preserved, solid brick with a natural patina and earthy deposits, retaining the original texture of the ancient brick. Slight wear is present on the surface, consistent with its age. Provenance: Private collection, Florida, USA. Description: This rectangular ancient brick, crafted into a scholar's inkstone, retains the strong visual language of Han Dynasty relief art. Measuring 36.5 cm long and 15.8 cm high, the brick is thick and sturdy, its surface bearing the natural patina of age and retaining the rough texture of ancient architectural bricks. The front is carved with fine bas-relief depicting a scene of a Han Dynasty ceremonial procession. The scene unfolds horizontally, showing mounted attendants, horses, and a moving covered wagon. Two riders lead the procession, holding weapons and displaying vigorous postures. The rear of the procession depicts a covered carriage with clearly visible wheel spokes, a passenger seated inside, and a driver gripping the reins. The horses, heads held high and gait vigorous, vividly create an atmosphere of travel and ceremony. The original molded decorative details on the sides are preserved, adding to the historical feel. The back retains the original traces left from the brick-making process, including geometric dividing lines and comb-like diagonal patterns. The rustic back contrasts sharply with the exquisite relief on the front, highlighting the unique charm of this piece.
