Description: This rectangular ancient brick has been transformed into a scholar's inkstone, perfectly combining early Chinese decorative art with the practical function of a traditional writing tool. Measuring 36 cm long and 17 cm high, the thick brick is covered with natural signs of age and retains the rough edges from its original production, imbuing it with a sense of history and timeless charm. The front features a double-framed design adorned with a shallow relief of intertwined dragon motifs. The elegant dragons meander and flow smoothly across the entire surface, creating a magnificent picture inspired by early Chinese bronze and architectural decorative traditions. The centrally raised rectangular seal-engraved plaque is inscribed with the two characters "长乐" (Chang Le, meaning longevity and happiness) in seal script. The elegant characters complement the surrounding dragon motif, achieving a harmonious balance between text and decoration, expressing heartfelt wishes for longevity, peace, and prosperity. The reverse side retains traces of the original brick-making process, showcasing three horizontal, radiating comb-like lines formed during ancient brick-making. The rustic, original texture contrasts sharply with the exquisite carving, highlighting the work's artistry. This piece blends the auspicious symbolism of the Han Dynasty, the aesthetics of ancient seal script, and the practical function of a scholar's inkstone; it is both a functional writing tool and a piece of Chinese literati art of great historical and decorative value.
