Description: This exquisite Tang Dynasty gilt bronze standing Guanyin statue is 14 cm high and weighs 250 g. It is a well-preserved small Buddhist offering statue used for personal offering and religious display. Cast in bronze and gilded, the statue, including the robe and lotus pedestal, exhibits a warm and delicate golden sheen. The green patina and reddish-brown tones, naturally formed over centuries, blend harmoniously with the gold, bronze, and rustic surface texture. The Bodhisattva Guanyin sits gracefully on a lotus throne, her posture elegant and balanced. Her slender body, intricately carved crown, flowing robes, and lotus throne form a harmonious three-part composition. The Bodhisattva wears a beautifully crafted gemstone crown adorned with cloud patterns. Her face is gentle, her expression serene, her gaze lowered, and a gentle smile conveying compassion and tranquility. The folds of her robes are exquisitely carved, lifelike, as if the garments are fluttering in the wind. Guanyin holds a vase of pure water, the vase itself a classic symbol of compassion, purification, and liberation from suffering. This sculpture is supported by a multi-layered lotus throne with rounded petals and a strong three-dimensional effect. Cast using the lost-wax method and decorated with gilding and carved patterns, it showcases the superb craftsmanship of ancient Buddhist bronze statue making. This Tang Dynasty gilded bronze Guanyin statue is proportionally balanced, with well-preserved gilding, a natural patina, and an enduring charm, making it an outstanding representative of early Chinese Buddhist sculpture.
