Dimensions: Total height 54 cm (21.3 inches, 1.77 feet), screen width 37 cm (14.6 inches, 1.21 feet), weight 3374 grams (7.44 pounds). An 18th-century Qing Dynasty court decorative art piece. Condition and Provenance: Excellent overall condition. The rosewood frame is intact and exquisitely carved. The eight jade panels are complete, without obvious cracks or missing pieces; the gilded inscription and dragon decorations remain visually striking. Minor wear is present, consistent with the period. Provenance: Private collection in New York, USA, long held in a private art collection. A scholar's treasure. The entire frame is carved from high-quality rosewood, with a fine grain, a deep reddish-brown color, and rich signs of age. The screen consists of eight independent jade panels, each fitting perfectly to the wooden frame. The edges of the screen are decorated with curling vine patterns and rounded beads, showcasing the exquisite craftsmanship of the Qing Dynasty court workshops. Each screen is crafted from natural Hetian jade, its emerald green hue adorned with subtle natural inclusions. The jade surfaces are meticulously polished, perfectly complementing the rosewood structure, showcasing the Qing dynasty court's exceptional skill in material selection. Exquisite gilded inscriptions and decorative patterns are engraved on the jade panels. Seven screens feature magnificent gold-leaf calligraphy, while another presents a delicate gilded dragon and cloud design. The dragon swims gracefully amidst layers of auspicious clouds, its scales, fins, and flowing lines rendered with lifelike realism, symbolizing success, progress, and prosperity. This Qing dynasty rosewood and Hetian jade screen, blending precious materials, exquisite craftsmanship, and courtly decorative aesthetics, represents the refined taste of the Qing dynasty court and remains a highly respected masterpiece of Chinese court decorative art to this day.
