拍品描述

Dimensions: 9.5 cm (3.74 in) in diameter, 4.7 cm (1.85 in) in height; Southern Song Dynasty, 12th-13th century. Condition and Provenance: This bowl is in excellent condition, with the body and glaze intact. The crackle pattern is clearly visible, without any cracks or repair marks. There is slight wear on the rim and foot, which are natural signs of use. Provenance: Private collection in California, USA, long held in a private collection of Asian ceramics. Description: This is a Jian ware tea bowl with crackle glaze bearing the mark "Jin Zhan," belonging to the Jian ware tradition, and was made specifically for the refined tea culture and tea ceremonies of the Song Dynasty. Following the classic Jian ware shape, the bowl has a slightly flared rim, a gradually narrowing body, and a low, stable foot. Its balanced proportions and low center of gravity give it the characteristic gravitas of Song Dynasty tea bowls. Both the interior and exterior are decorated with three-dimensional tortoise shell patterns, the glaze uneven, resembling the natural texture of a tortoise shell. The glaze is a skillful blend of blue-brown, tea-green, and iron-brown, with a darker hue in the recessed areas and a lighter hue in the raised areas, creating the unique layering and dynamism characteristic of Jian ware. The exposed foot rim reveals the typical dark iron-colored body of Jian ware, solid and textured. The inside of the foot rim is inscribed with the raised character "金琖" (Jin Zhan), a classic mark on Jian ware tea bowls made for the Song Dynasty imperial court. This bowl was designed specifically for traditional tea brewing and represents a unique and precious category of Jian ware. Its exquisite craftsmanship makes it a highly collectible work of art, attractive both as a display piece and a fine ceramic collectible.
