Dimensions: Diameter 36.5 cm/14.37 inches, Height 7 cm/2.76 inches, Late 17th to early 18th century, Weight unknown. Condition and Provenance: This dish is in excellent condition, with a stable body and glaze, clear underglaze blue decoration, and complete design. There are no obvious cracks or repair marks, only signs of natural aging around the foot rim. Provenance: Private collection, California, USA; acquired from a renowned American institution of Chinese art and held by a private collector for many years. Description: This large Kangxi period underglaze blue dish is an outstanding example of Qing dynasty gift porcelain, depicting a scene of scholars and attendants gathering in a garden. The dish is wide and shallow, with a balanced shape, a broad rim, gently sloping inner walls, and a thick foot rim. The surface is covered with a bright white glaze, which contrasts sharply with the rich cobalt blue decoration. The central decoration depicts a meticulously detailed courtyard scene, with lifelike buildings, pavilions, railings, trees, scholars, and attendants. The figures are elegant in posture and vivid in detail, showcasing the leisurely conversations, reading, and appreciation of objects in a classical garden. Natural elements such as pine trees, bamboo, and rocks are incorporated throughout the painting, creating a rich and layered landscape and atmosphere. The inner rim is decorated with pine and bamboo patterns, while the outer rim is painted with four groups of peach branches, symbolizing longevity and good fortune. The cobalt blue glaze exhibits the unique "piling" effect of Kangxi porcelain, with varying shades giving the porcelain an excellent sense of three-dimensionality and depth. The base bears the six-character mark "Made in the Kangxi Reign of the Great Qing Dynasty" within a double blue circle.
