Provenance: Private collection, New York, USA; purchased from the American antiques market, now in private ownership. Description: This Tang Dynasty Yue ware celadon conical tea bowl showcases the exquisite simplicity and elegance of early Chinese teaware. Measuring 18 cm in diameter and 4.6 cm in height, the bowl has a gracefully wide conical shape with exquisite carvings on the interior. The rim is five-petaled, with four raised vertical lines extending downwards along the outer edge, outlining a balanced and dynamic silhouette. The shallow and wide body makes it both suitable for holding tea and highly decorative. The bowl is entirely covered in a soft, grayish-green Yue ware celadon glaze, its smooth and delicate texture exuding the natural marks of time. The exposed foot rim reveals the slightly reddish clay body, bearing the imprints of history and the patina developed over centuries. The interior is decorated with intricate comb-like floral patterns, featuring a central flower surrounded by four scrolling leaves. Delicate, flowing lines run smoothly and naturally across the bowl, allowing the subtle green patterns to be faintly seen beneath the translucent glaze. This bowl, with its five-petaled flower-shaped rim, raised vertical lines, and elegant carvings, showcases the mature craftsmanship of Yue ware ceramics. Its exquisite shape, simple decoration, and excellent condition make it an outstanding representative of Tang Dynasty tea culture and an important early Chinese celadon collectible.
