Condition and Provenance: This piece is well-preserved, with its shape intact and the flower-shaped rim clearly visible. There are no obvious cracks or defects. The surface retains natural glaze cracks, the original exposed foot, mineral traces from the passage of time, and the old collector's label that serves as its historical heritage. Provenance: Private collection in Hong Kong; long held in the family collection of a collector of Chinese ceramics. Description: This Song Dynasty celadon flower-shaped spittoon measures 12 cm in diameter and 7.8 cm in height. It is an elegant and practical object, often used in the residences of literati and at banquets. The classic shape features a six-petaled flower-shaped opening with a slightly flared rim, a slender waist, a rounded belly, and a small, round foot. The graceful curves outline a refined silhouette, combining practical function with elegant aesthetic design. Viewed from above, the interior decoration echoes the six-petaled floral pattern on the rim, showcasing the exquisite craftsmanship of Song Dynasty ceramics. The entire vessel is covered in a soft, bluish-white glaze, exhibiting an elegant blue-gray tone. The glaze is warm and translucent, covered with fine crackles naturally formed over centuries. Tiny brown rust spots from the firing process are scattered across the surface, adding to its antique charm. The unglazed foot reveals the aged ceramic body, showing traces of soil and surface deposits from long-term burial or storage. The base still retains the previous collector's label, recording its acquisition history. Flower-shaped spittoons are an important category of Song Dynasty ceramics, combining practical daily use with exquisite decorative beauty. This piece is well-formed, adorned with elegant floral borders, and features a naturally aged glaze with a subdued tone, embodying the beauty of Song Dynasty ceramic craftsmanship and possessing historical and collectible value.
