拍品描述

Dimensions: Height 11.5 cm (4.5 inches, 0.38 feet), body diameter 10 cm (3.9 inches, 0.33 feet); Qing Dynasty, 18th-19th century bronze. Condition and Provenance: Well preserved, gilding surface largely intact. The body retains natural signs of age, with wear marks on the surface, and part of the bronze body is visible beneath the gilding layer. The high-relief decoration is clear and delicate. Provenance: Private collection, California, USA. Description: This exquisite gilded bronze lidded ritual vessel, finely cast in bronze, is decorated with intricate high-relief decoration. The vessel is 11.5 cm high and 10 cm in diameter, consisting of a lid and a cylindrical body, decorated throughout with dense cloud and dragon patterns. The lid is topped with a hollowed-out double-headed mythical beast knob, with finely carved scales, flowing mane, and symmetrical posture, also serving a practical function. The rim of the lid is decorated with raised ruyi cloud patterns, deeply carved and meticulously crafted, with an antique gilding finish. The cylindrical body is divided into three parts. The upper part is decorated with continuous cloud patterns, echoing the decorations on the lid. The middle section depicts a powerful dragon weaving through waves and clouds, with meticulously detailed scales, whiskers, and swirling patterns. The lower part is adorned with evenly distributed raised areas and delicate cloud patterns. The interior remains exposed, revealing the original bronze color of the edges, creating a striking contrast with the gilded exterior. This piece was cast using the lost-wax method, showcasing exquisite bronze relief, carving, and gilding techniques. The layered combination of dragon, auspicious cloud, and mythical beast motifs reflects the solemn and elegant ceremonial style of Qing dynasty ritual vessels. Such objects have historically been used in religious ceremonies, altar displays, and aristocratic collections, demonstrating both superb artistry and significant historical importance.
