Description: This magnificent floor-standing screen is an outstanding example of Qing Dynasty court decorative craftsmanship, standing 195 cm tall with a circular screen diameter of 123 cm. The entire frame is crafted from high-quality rosewood, with a deep, warm color and naturally elegant grain. Cloud-shaped supports extending from both sides create flowing, graceful lines. This piece is ornately decorated, primarily with relief and openwork carvings. It features endless gourd patterns symbolizing prosperity and wealth, as well as openwork bats and intertwined gourds representing good fortune. The wide feet are carved with auspicious cloud patterns, showcasing exquisite layering and a sturdy mortise and tenon structure—typical characteristics of high-end decorative furniture from the Qing Dynasty. The circular panel is lacquered in black, decorated with natural crackle patterns and rich gilded designs. The back depicts the Eight Auspicious Symbols of Buddhism, surrounded by golden cloud patterns, including the Dharma wheel, parasol, vase, and lotus, forming a magnificent golden scroll. The front is decorated with gilded dragon and phoenix patterns, with meticulously detailed scales, feathers, and flowing cloud patterns covering the background. Materials include Hetian white jade, jadeite, green jade, Shoushan stone, lapis lazuli, turquoise, and agate. In the patterns symbolizing longevity, layered mountains, lush pine and bamboo groves, babbling streams, and colorful stone carvings combine to create a richly layered, ethereal scene. The eighteen Arhats are depicted in various poses, some chanting scriptures and gazing at the clouds, others holding ritual implements, and still others contemplating philosophical ideas. Their expressions are vivid, and their robes are vibrant. Decorative details such as gilded seals, turquoise, and agate further enhance the visual depth and impact of the composition. This screen blends various techniques including gilded lacquer, inlaid precious stones, and exquisite carving of rosewood. It showcases a variety of auspicious themes such as dragons and phoenixes, Buddhist blessings, the longevity symbolism of the eighteen Arhats, and good fortune, making it a masterpiece of Qing Dynasty court decorative art and an ideal choice for an important interior collection.
