Condition and Provenance: This bronze incense burner is in excellent condition, without deformation, cracks, defects, or signs of repair. The raised floral decorations are clear and complete, and the square seal script mark "Made by Gao Longtang" is intact. The original carved hardwood base is well-preserved, exhibiting a natural and mature patina. Provenance: Private collection, California, USA. Description: This magnificent Qing dynasty bronze incense burner is a large rectangular trough shape with wide folded edges, sloping walls, and a stepped body supported by four ruyi-shaped cloud feet. Its large size and dignified presence make it an extraordinary piece for a hall display. The original hardwood base is well-preserved with the incense burner, forming a complete display set. This incense burner, cast in heavy bronze, possesses a rich, deep brown, antique luster and a warm, traditional patina. Its exterior base has a matte finish, while frequently touched areas have become smooth and refined from years of use. The interior retains traces of historical use and the unique patina of bronze. All four sides are adorned with intricately carved scrolling foliage, its branches and leaves lush, layered, and flowing, creating a striking three-dimensional effect. The base bears the inscription "Made in Gaolongtang," the characters bold and powerful. The matching hardwood base is decorated with openwork scrolling patterns, its edges delicate, and the feet exquisitely carved with traditional geometric designs. This large incense burner perfectly blends Qing Dynasty bronze craftsmanship with hardwood carving techniques, making it an outstanding representative of Chinese decorative art.
