The mirror is intact, without cracks or major damage. The mirror rim is undamaged, the Buddhist inscription is clearly visible, the central knob is secure, and the original patina has naturally formed. Provenance: Private collection, California, USA. Description: This Tang Dynasty bronze mirror is a classic round shape with a wide, convex rim and a central circular knob. Its heavy form and solid casting technique give this object a solemn and dignified quality; it is a large ceremonial bronze mirror. The back of the mirror is beautifully decorated, with intricately carved Buddhist inscriptions arranged in a circle around the central knob. The flowing calligraphy, deep carving, and balanced spacing create an elegant spiritual aesthetic. Unlike mirrors decorated with animals, flowers, or auspicious patterns, this mirror is entirely decorated with Buddhist scriptures, combining practicality and religious significance. The mirror's surface displays a rich, ancient patina, with layers of green and reddish-brown mineral deposits formed naturally over hundreds of years. Some areas retain their original metallic luster, while the oxidized areas create a beautiful contrast and sense of depth.
