拍品描述

Dimensions: 9.5 cm (3.7 in. 0.31 ft) in diameter, 8 cm (3.1 in. 0.26 ft) in height, Northern Song Dynasty (10th-12th century). Condition and Provenance: Excellent condition. Private collection, California, USA. Description: This small celadon jar with a flared rim is exquisitely understated in form, with an elegantly flared rim, a short neck, gently sloping shoulders, a full and rounded body, and a gradually narrowing base. Its compact and balanced silhouette embodies the practical yet elegant characteristics of traditional literati vessels, originally used to store spices and precious small objects. The entire jar is covered with a delicate celadon glaze, exhibiting a soft, light blue-green hue, with a smooth, jade-like texture. The glaze is thinner at the flared rim, revealing a natural light beige edge, creating a beautiful firing "ridge" effect. Small natural brown spots are visible on the glaze, preserving the antique charm of the piece. The interior is glazed in the same color, with small natural dark firing marks visible, further enhancing its antique feel. The bottom is flat, with a circular piece of clay exposed in the center, revealing dense, dry, light brown clay. There is slight glaze loss. The piece is beautifully shaped, with a soft, bluish-white glaze, and is well-preserved, making it a quintessential example of Song Dynasty literati porcelain.
