Private collection, California, USA. Description: This Northern Song Dynasty celadon-glazed high-footed offering dish features a classic shape with a wide, flat surface and a shallow body, with a central recess suitable for holding small vessels. The dish is supported by a rounded, drum-shaped foot, resulting in a beautifully balanced overall form. Such vessels, with their elegant proportions and flowing lines, were traditionally used for ceremonial displays, fruit arrangements, and the presentation of fine tea sets. The entire piece is covered in a delicate celadon glaze, exhibiting a soft, light blue-green hue with a jade-like texture. The glaze is smooth and fine, with a soft, understated luster. The thinner glaze at the rim reveals the pale yellowish-brown body of the earthenware, showing traces of natural aging of the clay. The glaze on the inner and outer walls and handle of the vessel is harmoniously unified, and the surface retains small, natural firing spots, adding to its rustic charm. The concave body of the cup is also glazed, demonstrating exquisite craftsmanship. The original earthenware body is exposed at the bottom of the handle; it is dry and dense, bearing natural aging deposits and dark firing marks. The vessel is well-preserved, without cracks, defects, or glaze peeling. Its elegant shape, soft colors, and excellent condition make it a model of decorative and practical Song Dynasty ceramics.
