拍品描述

Dimensions: Longest 21 cm (8.27 inches), shortest 20 cm (7.87 inches), total weight 35 grams; Period: 10th-13th centuries. Condition and Provenance: All three bone artifacts are intact and naturally curved. The bone surfaces retain authentic burial patina, covered with uneven soil discoloration and brownish-red signs of age. The handles show slight wear from long-term ancient use. The edges of the perforations show authentic aging wear. There are no signs of modern cutting, polishing, replacement, or later alteration. Only minor ancient stress cracks and small old chips are visible in some areas, consistent with the original condition of ancient bone artifacts unearthed in northern China. From a private collection in California, USA. This set of bone artifacts was acquired in early 2000 from the Beijing antique market by a California collector specializing in East Asian steppe antiquities. It has been kept in a temperature-controlled cabinet for private research and display only and has never been publicly sold. This set of artifacts consists of three Liao-Jin dynasty bone artifacts, all made of polished animal bones. Its distinctive features include a slender, smooth, round handle with a rounded end decorated with neatly arranged circular perforations. The body of the object has a slightly natural curve, typical of daily utensils used by nomadic tribes in northern Liao and Jin dynasties. The bone texture is clearly visible. The patina formed by multiple layers of burial exhibits various shades, including grayish-white, light brown, and dark brown. The drilling technique is exquisite, with uniform hole diameters and a neat arrangement. Complete examples of this type of perforated long-handled bone artifact are extremely rare. These artifacts provide direct material evidence of ancient bone tool craftsmanship and the daily customs of nomadic peoples, possessing significant archaeological, ethnological, and collectible value.
