Description: This sculpture, carved from a single piece of hardwood, depicts the classic image of Kui Xing, a scholar. Kui Xing is depicted with a majestic posture, one foot resting on a mythical turtle, the other raised high. The facial features are vividly and powerfully rendered, with bright, piercing eyes and a radiant smile, full of vitality. One hand is raised above the head, as if holding a writing brush, while the other hand holds an inkwell. The folds of the clothing are carved smoothly and deeply, creating a strong sense of three-dimensionality and dynamism. A coiled dragon is carved on the rounded base, surrounded by swirling cloud reliefs. The entire piece retains the original red, green, and earthy brown mineral pigments, and after hundreds of years of weathering, natural cracks have formed on the wooden base. Kui Xing was revered as the god of the Renaissance in ancient China. This wood carving is bold and dynamic in form, with excellent visual appeal, making it a masterpiece of Ming Dynasty folk wood carving. It holds extremely high collection value for enthusiasts of folk religious art and antique carvings.
