Condition and Provenance: Carved from a single piece of natural serpentine jade, free from cracks, repairs, artificial dyeing, or resin injection. The jade exhibits a natural gradient of light white and emerald green, with smooth and natural color transitions. The relief corn kernels are full and clear, and all decorative patterns above and below are intact. The entire piece has been professionally and meticulously polished, presenting a soft, translucent luster, without any artificial aging patina. This piece was handcrafted in a Chinese jade carving studio and entered the overseas antique market many years ago. It is now in the collection of a private collector of Ming and Qing dynasty jade artifacts residing in Los Angeles, California, USA. Chinese jade carvings are mainly traded in the California and New York markets. Description: This two-tone serpentine jade corn carving is a classic example of traditional Chinese auspicious jade artifacts. In traditional Chinese culture, corn symbolizes numerous offspring and abundant harvests. The artisans fully utilized the natural layers and colors of the jade: deep green jade was carved into plump, ripe corn kernels, while light green and white jade were used to create tender green corn husks, the colors blending together naturally and smoothly. Each corn kernel was carved using a three-dimensional round carving technique, with a rounded and full outline, delicate and realistic texture, soft and smooth lines, and an overall slender and full shape. It can be used as a plaything or a desktop ornament. The serpentine jade has a delicate, moist texture and is crystal clear. Large, well-preserved natural two-tone corn jade carvings are relatively rare on the market, possessing extremely high collection value. They are exquisite pieces for appreciation, embodying the essence of traditional auspicious culture and jade carving craftsmanship. They are highly favored by overseas Asian jade collectors and are ideal decorations for scholars' studies and tea rooms.
