Dimensions: 26 cm (10.24 inches) in height, 16.5 cm (6.50 inches) in maximum width, weighing 2902 grams. Qing Dynasty, 18th century. Condition and Provenance: The entire Buddha statue is intact, without any missing parts or damage. The Buddha body, crown, lotus pedestal, and base are all original, without any restoration or refurbishment. A thick layer of gilding covers the bronze core; after centuries of devout worship, the surface has slightly worn, revealing the bronze base. The fine carvings on the crown, jewels, robe, and lotus petals remain clear and three-dimensional. The blue pigment on the headband and shoulder cloth is well-preserved, with only slight fading. The base has not been altered; the engraved double vajras are clearly visible, and the base has not been replaced or modernly regilded. This gilded Buddha statue circulated in Southeast Asia before being imported to North America. It is now in the collection of an experienced private collector residing in California who specializes in Tibetan Buddhist sculptures. California, Bangkok, and Paris are major trading centers for antique Buddha statues worldwide. Description: This 18th-century Qing Dynasty gilt bronze Amitabha Buddha statue is a formal Buddhist image made for worship in Tibetan Buddhist temples. It was cast using the lost-wax method and adorned with high-grade gilding. The Buddha wears a magnificent five-leaf crown, his hair is painted with natural blue mineral pigment, his face is compassionate and gentle, his eyes are slightly lowered, and there is a clear white mark on his forehead. Long earrings hang down to his shoulders. Layered pearl necklaces and delicate armbands adorn the Buddha's body, and a blue silk scarf is draped over his shoulders. The Buddha sits in a lotus posture, holding a longevity vase at his abdomen, a signature ritual implement of Amitabha Buddha, symbolizing longevity and the elimination of calamities. The Buddha sits on a double-layered lotus pedestal with full and upright lotus petals. The edges of the base are intricately carved with continuous scrolling foliage patterns, showcasing exquisite craftsmanship. The back panel is engraved with crossed vajras, symbolizing the immortal Dharma, a hallmark of authentic Tibetan Buddhist statues. The Buddha statue is proportionally balanced and dignified, blending the artistic style of the Qing Dynasty imperial court with the traditional aesthetics of Himalayan sculpture. Its smooth, antique gilding shine is a result of long-term worship and has not undergone any artificial aging treatment. Amitabha Buddha is the most important longevity deity in Tibetan Buddhism. Today, well-preserved Qing Dynasty gilt-gilt Amitabha Buddha statues retaining their original pigments and backing plates are extremely rare. It possesses profound religious ritual significance, exquisite metalwork historical value, and artistic research value, making it an ideal choice for Himalayan art galleries and one of the most sought-after items in the Western antique Buddhist statue collecting world.
