The famille rose enamels are vibrant and well-preserved; the floral branches, chrysanthemum motifs, original inscription, and two vermilion seals are all clearly discernible. The circular ebony base on the back is deeply carved with a landscape and pavilion design; the carving is complete with only minor signs of aging, without cracks or signs of repair. The matching solid ebony base is carved with pine, bamboo, and plum blossoms, forming the classic "Three Friends of Winter" pattern, and decorated with interwoven "衮" (gun) characters; the carving is complete and undamaged. The wooden frame is sturdy, without any wobbling, insect damage, or obvious cracks; the surface displays a smooth, natural aging effect. The porcelain screen and wooden frame are original matching sets; no replacements were made. This screen, formerly owned by a collector in Jingdezhen, Jiangxi Province, was exported overseas in the 1990s and is now housed in a private collection of Ming and Qing dynasty porcelain in California, USA. California, New York, and Texas are major trading centers for Ming and Qing dynasty porcelain antiques worldwide. Description: This large double-sided screen is a masterpiece by Liu Yucen, one of the Eight Friends of Zhushan and the most renowned porcelain painter of the Republic of China period. The front is painted with an exquisite famille rose floral and bird painting, "Chrysanthemums in Full Bloom." At the center of the painting is a gnarled branch adorned with small orange-red berries, surrounded by blooming yellow, purple, and light purple chrysanthemums, and layered, shadowy leaves. Three lively songbirds perch naturally on the branches, and the soft, light blue washed stone pattern creates a tranquil autumnal artistic atmosphere. The left side of the porcelain bears a long inscription including the painting's title, date of creation, studio name, and the artist Liu Yucen's signature, below which are two red artist seals. Liu Yucen excelled in famille rose depictions of birds, animals, and flowers; his soft colors and delicate, realistic bird depictions are the hallmarks of his work. The circular black wooden panel on the back is carved with a magnificent landscape painting, including ancient pines, rugged rocks, traditional Chinese pavilions and towers, and a small Chinese boatman, showcasing rich three-dimensionality and endless visual detail. Both the circular frame and the base are crafted from high-quality solid black wood. The base features openwork carving, depicting interwoven pines and bamboos, blooming plum blossoms, and two dragons winding among the branches, demonstrating fluid carving techniques and exquisite openwork details. The outer frame is decorated with a continuous meander pattern. Collectors can flip the circular screen to display painted porcelain on the front and finely carved wood on the back, perfectly blending Chinese ceramic painting art with exquisite wood carving craftsmanship into a single piece. This complete double-sided screen, created by the Eight Friends of Bamboo Mountain, with its matching carved black wood base, is extremely rare on the market. This piece possesses the dual collectible value of Republic-era porcelain art and classical wood carving furniture, making it a coveted Ming and Qing dynasty porcelain masterpiece for North American collectors.
