Dimensions: 23 cm (9.06 inches) in height, 17th-century Ming-Qing porcelain. Condition and Provenance: This jar is intact, without any through cracks or chips. The black-gold glaze is intact and firm, with most of the original gilding decoration preserved, only a small amount of gold powder naturally faded, showing no signs of later gold powder repair or glaze restoration. The original reddish-brown protective glaze on the rim is also well preserved. The six-character underglaze blue double-ring mark on the base, “Made in the Kangxi Reign of the Great Qing Dynasty,” is original and has not been altered, and the foot rim naturally displays rust. This piece was once in the collection of an ancient noble family in Jiangnan, consigned to a Ming-Qing porcelain gallery in Hong Kong for auction in 2000, and acquired by a private royal porcelain collector in New York, USA in 2023. Hong Kong, New York, and Toronto are major global trading centers for Ming-Qing court porcelain. The entire jar is hand-painted with seasonal flowers and birds in real gold pigment, including chrysanthemums, orchids, and golden birds, with overlapping and extending branches and delicate, flowing gold lines. The lower part of the jar is encircled by a double-line seal script inscription of "Double Happiness" and "Longevity," symbolizing wealth, longevity, and family happiness. The mouth of the jar is decorated with gilded scrolling grass patterns, the interior is covered with a pure white glaze, and the bottom has a six-character reign mark in regular script within a double blue circle, the characters neat and simple. The porcelain body is delicate and dense, with a neatly trimmed foot rim, and the exposed clay displays distinct natural aging textures. The black-gold glaze requires extremely precise kiln temperature control, resulting in a low yield; therefore, pieces with full gilding and polychrome decoration are extremely rare on the market. This jar combines practical storage functionality with elegant display aesthetics, the dignified black glaze complementing the exquisite gilding and polychrome decoration perfectly. It retains its original early Qing dynasty appearance completely, without any artificial repairs or alterations, perfectly showcasing the comprehensive craftsmanship of the Kangxi period in glaze, painting, and body making.
