拍品描述
Dimensions: 19 cm (7.48 inches) high, 14th century. Condition and Provenance: The vase is structurally sound and free of cracks; slight signs of aging are present on the flared rim; the underglaze blue exhibits natural cobalt blue bleed and dark rust-like crystalline spots; the interior still retains some old dust and stains; the unglazed sandy foot shows signs of patina, wear, and kiln marks; there are no major damages or repairs. This piece came from a private collector in Chicago, Illinois, who purchased it from an antiques company in London in the 1970s. It has since been passed down through the family and kept in a private vault, rarely exhibited and never publicly auctioned. Description: This 14th-century Yuan dynasty blue-and-white pear-shaped vase is an outstanding example of Yuan dynasty narrative porcelain. It has an elegant shape, with a flared mouth, a slender, tapering neck, a rounded, full body in a pear shape, and a flared foot. The neck is decorated with free-flowing bamboo branches and cloud patterns. The vase depicts a historical scene: a figure in a long robe and straw hat stands on a boat, with meticulous details on the hull, canopy, and rivets, surrounded by shimmering water, bamboo groves, and rocks. The figure is vivid, the composition balanced, and the lines vigorous and powerful. The lower part of the vase is decorated with lotus petal patterns, inlaid with ruyi cloud patterns, and the outer edge of the foot is decorated with scrolling grass patterns. The interior is glazed in celadon. The unglazed sandy glaze at the bottom is preserved, revealing a solid body with a slight yellow tint, covered with thick traces of time. Using imported cobalt blue pigment from the Yuan dynasty, the vase exhibits a rich, deep blue tone, with natural diffusion and scattered rust spots, beneath which lies a lustrous, bluish-white glaze. Yuan dynasty blue-and-white porcelain vessels with figure motifs are extremely rare. This vase, with its multi-layered decoration showcasing a complete narrative pattern, is a fine example of Yuan dynasty blue-and-white porcelain, possessing museum-quality collectible value.
