Vancouver, Pennsylvania, and Kuala Lumpur are major global trading centers for jade and miscellaneous items. Description: This large serpentine cabbage ornament is a substantial modern round-cut decorative art piece. The cabbage, a homophone for "wealth and prosperity for all" in Chinese, symbolizes wealth accumulation and family prosperity, making it one of the most popular auspicious motifs in traditional Chinese interior decoration. This piece is carved from a single, thick block of serpentine stone, with the craftsman making full use of the stone's natural color blocks. Vibrant green areas form layered, wrinkled leaves, while milky white sections outline the robust cabbage stem, fully showcasing the natural beauty of the stone. The sculptors combined various techniques, including round carving, openwork carving, and bas-relief. Dozens of layers of leaves extend outwards, with naturally flowing edges. The veins and granular surface textures have been meticulously sculpted, creating a hyper-realistic effect, resembling a freshly picked cabbage. Such a large piece of serpentine stone without cracks or impurities is extremely rare, and its exquisite carving process consumed a significant amount of raw materials and time. After multiple rounds of fine polishing, it presents a soft, moist luster, with the green parts fresh and lively, and the white parts exuding a warm texture. The piece is paired with a faux burl wood base, the rough bark texture of which complements the lustrous white jade, providing stable support for the entire work. This sculpture showcases exquisite stone carving techniques and profound traditional Chinese auspicious symbolism, making it an ideal choice for interior decoration in residences and clubs. Highly sought after by jade collectors in North America and Southeast Asia, it is a highly representative large-scale auspicious decorative item in the modern jade carving collecting world.
