拍品描述
Dimensions: Each silver coin is 3.9 cm (1.54 inches) in diameter; the set weighs a total of 108 grams. This is a collection of 19th-20th century Chinese silver coins. Condition and Provenance: This set includes four different classic silver coins: a 1914 (Republic of China Year 3) Shikai silver coin, a 1911 (Qing Dynasty Year 3) Xuantong silver coin, a British trade silver coin, and a Guangxu mint seven-weight two-gold-dragon silver coin. All coins are structurally intact, without cracks, weld repairs, or severe dents. The edges are clear and complete, with only slight natural wear from circulation. Each coin bears a black ink stamp used by old pawnshops to verify authenticity; the thick ink has penetrated the surface without any modern counterfeit ink additions. All surfaces exhibit the original color of natural oxidation, without any chemical treatment or artificial coloring. All figures, dragons, text, and floral patterns are clearly identifiable. This multi-version stamped silver coin set originates from the collection of an old private pawnshop in central China. It was consigned to a professional silver coin shop in Singapore in 2024, and later acquired in 2026 by a private collector specializing in Qing and Republican-era silver coins with ink stamps in Florida, USA. Singapore, Florida, and Vancouver are important global trading centers for ancient Chinese silver coins. Description: This set of four silver coins brings together four classic mainstream silver coins: late Qing Dynasty central government dragon-patterned silver coins, Republic of China domestic portrait silver coins, and foreign trade silver coins. Each coin bears the original pawnshop ink stamp, making it a multifunctional collectible that integrates numismatic history, commercial and financial records, and traditional pawnshop culture. The Yuan Dynasty Year 3 Stone Script Flower Wreath Silver Coin served as the official silver coin circulating nationwide in the early Republic of China. The obverse features a lifelike portrait, while the reverse depicts a symbolic wreath. It is the most produced domestic silver coin in modern China. The Xuantong Year 3 Great Qing Silver Coin is the last official imperial silver coin of the Qing Dynasty. The obverse features a magnificent curved-whisker dragon with finely engraved scales and cloud patterns, making it a standout among Qing Dynasty dragon coins. British trade silver dollars were the main foreign currency for China's overseas trade in the late Qing Dynasty. The obverse featured a standing warrior figure, and the reverse included the year plus a one-dollar denomination. They circulated widely in coastal and inland trade areas of China. The "Seven Rights Two Gold Dragon Dollars" minted by the Guangxu Mint, produced by the Central Mint of the Ministry of Taxation, featured formal calligraphy and exquisite royal dragon designs, representing the pinnacle of Northern Dragon coinage. In the past, local private banks and pawnshops would stamp silver coins with special black ink marks to verify authenticity and track circulation. This set of four silver coins retains the original, unaltered commercial ink marks, providing conclusive evidence of silver circulation and pawnbroking activities in the late Qing and early Republican periods. Each coin meets the official silver purity standards of its respective period and possesses a patina naturally formed over decades of transactions; the ink blends seamlessly with the silver surface, without later inking or cleaning. A set of silver coins including a Central Dragon Silver Coin, a Central Mint Dragon Silver Coin, a Republic of China Silver Dollar, and a Foreign Trade Silver Dollar, all bearing original pawnshop seals, is extremely rare in its current excellent condition. This set of silver coins is not only a valuable material reference for studying the transformation of modern monetary systems and domestic and international commercial exchanges, but also possesses outstanding antique investment and collection value. It is a rare and comprehensive set of multi-version silver coins, highly sought after by antique silver coin collectors worldwide.
