Condition and Provenance: This piece is assembled from several independently cast components, with the main structure intact. The eagle, swan, and cloud-patterned base are all well-preserved. The carved details of the wing feathers and bird plumage are clearly visible. Long-term burial underground has resulted in a thick, multi-layered reddish-green patina, which is stable, exposing parts of the original bronze core. There are no signs of modern cutting or welding, chemical cleaning or artificial coloring, or any replacement parts. The original characteristics of Liao-Jin bronze casting and the patina layer on the unearthed surface are perfectly preserved. This piece was originally a private collection in California, USA. It entered North America in the 1970s and passed through the hands of several seasoned collectors specializing in Liao-Jin Northern Steppe bronzes. It has always been kept in a temperature-controlled, light-protected warehouse and has never been auctioned or publicly exhibited. History and Description: This bronze eagle hunting swan figurine from the Liao-Jin period, cast in bronze, showcases the classic "spring hunt" theme of northern grassland culture. The swan soars high, while the eagle swoops down, their postures vivid and contrasting. The base is carved with cloud patterns, creating an atmosphere of soaring through the sky. The feathers are meticulously depicted, lifelike. The spring hunt theme vividly reflects the seasonal royal hunting rituals of the Liao-Jin nobility, reflecting the hunting customs and aesthetic tastes of nomadic peoples. Its exquisite casting craftsmanship and rare subject matter make it an important extant artifact for the study of Liao-Jin grassland culture and bronze sculpture, possessing extremely high historical, artistic, and collectible value.
