拍品描述

Dimensions: 11.5 cm (4.53 inches) wide, 8 cm (3.15 inches) high. An 18th-19th century Qing Dynasty Yixing Zisha teapot in the shape of cinnabar clay. Condition and Provenance: This teapot is hand-thrown from high-quality Yixing cinnabar clay, exhibiting a rich, reddish-brown color, fine texture, and a thick patina, showing the marks of time. The body is a classic pear shape, with a harmonious proportion between the spout, handle, and lid. The lid fits snugly against the mouth of the pot, and the internal water channel is intact. The bottom is inscribed with a Qing Dynasty calligraphy inscription, the strokes simple and elegant. The body is intact, without cracks, defects, or signs of repair; the lid is original and has never been replaced. The patina is naturally formed, without artificial aging or excessive polishing. This Zisha teapot was previously sold by an Oriental Antiques Gallery in Vancouver and was acquired in 2026 by a private collector specializing in Qing Dynasty Zisha teapots in Washington State, USA. New York, Texas, and Vancouver are important global trading centers for Chinese antique Zisha teaware. Description: This is an exquisite classic pear-shaped cinnabar teapot, a small brewing vessel favored by southern literati during the Ming and Qing dynasties. The body is a full pear shape, slightly narrowing upwards. The lid is dome-shaped, adorned with a rounded pearl knob, and the base is concave and flat. The elegant curved spout and smooth ring handle create a harmonious silhouette, resulting in a compact and refined overall design. Made of dense natural cinnabar clay with a warm, understated color, it has developed a natural patina over centuries of tea immersion. The inscription on the bottom follows the typical style of Qing dynasty cinnabar teapots, with simple and unpretentious strokes. The lid fits perfectly, the inner lid is exquisitely crafted, and the original spout's water channel is well-preserved, combining excellent aesthetic appeal with practical brewing performance. The high shrinkage rate of Yixing cinnabar clay during firing makes a perfectly preserved pear-shaped cinnabar teapot extremely rare today. This teapot perfectly showcases the exquisite craftsmanship of Qing dynasty Yixing cinnabar pottery artists. As a tangible testament to the development and evolution of tea ceremony and Zisha (purple clay) craftsmanship during the Qing Dynasty, this teapot is highly sought after by overseas Chinese and Western East Asian antique collectors. It can be used for display as well as for actual brewing, combining practicality with extremely high collectible value.
