Dimensions: 19 cm (7.48 inches) in diameter, 5.5 cm (2.17 inches) in height. A 19th-century Jiaqing-era imperial famille rose bowl with a black rim. Condition and Provenance: This Jiaqing famille rose bowl has a delicate, thin, and dense body with a bright and lustrous glaze. The exterior is covered with a deep black glaze, decorated with intricate famille rose scrolling floral patterns, with the pink, green, yellow, and blue glazes blending naturally and smoothly. The interior is glazed white; the central green ground features a "寿" (longevity) character surrounded by scrolling lotus flowers, accompanied by red bats and knotted patterns, symbolizing good fortune. The rim is decorated with a famille rose ruyi (auspicious cloud) border. The base bears a six-character iron-red calligraphy mark, "大庆嘉庆年制" (Made in the Jiaqing Reign of the Great Qing Dynasty), beautifully written in a pure style, showcasing the essence of Jiaqing court calligraphy. The bowl is intact, without cracks, fine lines, glaze peeling, damage, or signs of repair. Only very slight signs of aging are visible on the rim; all original glazes are well preserved, without any later repainting or touch-ups, and the glaze and enamel surfaces exhibit a soft, natural patina from aging. This bowl was originally consigned for auction by an antique porcelain gallery in Toronto and acquired in 2026 by a private collector in Texas specializing in Qing dynasty imperial porcelain. Texas, New York, and Toronto are important international trading centers for high-quality Ming and Qing dynasty porcelain. Description: This Jiaqing period black-ground famille rose leaf-rimmed bowl is a typical example of early 19th-century Qing dynasty court ware that combines aesthetics and practicality. Well-preserved, unrestored examples of exquisite mid-Qing dynasty imperial porcelain are rare on the world auction market. The bowl has an elegant leaf-shaped rim, a slightly curved body, and a delicate foot rim. The exterior is covered with a deep, glossy black glaze and decorated with dense famille rose floral patterns. The full flowers and winding foliage are vibrant and richly colored, showcasing the intricate and ornate decorative aesthetics characteristic of Jiaqing famille rose porcelain. The interior design revolves entirely around the theme of auspiciousness and longevity. The central green-ground circular design features a striking "寿" (longevity) character surrounded by lotus scrolls, red bats, and a "万年结" (ten-thousand-year knot) pattern. The bats symbolize good fortune, the "寿" character represents longevity, and the "万年结" symbolizes long life, together forming a complete theme of auspiciousness and longevity. The interior of the bowl is decorated with terracotta bat patterns, echoing the central circular design. The rim is petal-shaped, adorned with soft-toned famille rose ruyi (auspicious cloud) and scrolling grass patterns. The foot rim is inscribed with a standard six-character terracotta reign mark, conforming to the official script of the Jiaqing Emperor. The Jiaqing Emperor favored auspicious motifs; therefore, themes of good fortune and longevity appeared extensively in both everyday court porcelain and display pieces. This bowl could be used for banquets or as a fine interior decoration. The bowl retains its original glaze, untouched by repairs or repainting, showcasing the renowned famille rose porcelain craftsmanship of the mid-Qing dynasty, while also reflecting the auspicious culture of the Qing court and common people. This bowl is highly sought after by international collectors of Qing dynasty court porcelain, possessing reliable long-term collection and appreciation potential.
