拍品描述
Dimensions: 16.5 cm (6.50 in) in diameter, 7 cm (2.76 in) in height. A 13th-14th century Yuan dynasty Longquan celadon bowl with a flower-shaped rim, decorated with plum blossom patterns. Condition and Provenance: The bowl has a naturally undulating rim in the shape of a five-petaled flower. The bowl walls are smooth and rounded, and the foot is neatly trimmed. Both the interior and exterior are covered with a thick, soft Longquan celadon glaze, a balanced pale green color. The center of the bowl is decorated with a molded plum blossom pattern, the thin glaze at the edges of the petals subtly revealing the slightly reddish-brown body. The unglazed foot shows a rust-red color from natural firing due to contact with the kiln pad, and the body is dense and solid. This bowl is in excellent condition, without cracks or damage. Only slight signs of aging from centuries of burial and transportation are visible on the glaze and rim. This piece has not undergone any later glaze filling, polishing, or repair; the original patina and kiln pad firing marks are perfectly preserved. This porcelain piece circulated in the Hong Kong antique market and was acquired in 2026 by a private collector of early Song and Yuan dynasty porcelain in Illinois. Hong Kong was a major global trading center for Chinese porcelain before the Ming dynasty. Description: This Yuan dynasty Longquan celadon bowl with a flower-shaped rim and plum blossom design represents the exquisite banquet and scholar's bedroom porcelain of the Longquan kiln's heyday. The Yuan dynasty Longquan kiln produced a large number of flower-shaped vessels. The vivid flower-shaped rim and the central plum blossom design complement each other, symbolizing resilience and the return of spring—a popular motif during the Song and Yuan dynasties. The thick, flesh-green glaze presents a soft, restrained luster rather than a glaring shine, perfectly showcasing the renowned jade-like quality of Longquan celadon. The bowl's simple foot rim bears natural rust-red firing marks, a true reflection of the Yuan dynasty Longquan kiln's padding firing technique. While similar Longquan bowls with flower-shaped appliqués exist, large pieces like this, well-preserved with an intact rim and a bright, vibrant green glaze, are extremely rare. Most similar pieces circulating in the market suffer from problems such as chipped rims, cracked bodies, or severely worn glazes. This porcelain bowl, however, boasts an elegant and symmetrical shape, a smooth rim, clearly defined three-dimensional plum blossom decorations, and a well-preserved glaze. It provides an important material reference for the study of Yuan Dynasty Longquan porcelain production techniques, decorative themes, and the aesthetics of Chinese porcelain. This bowl is highly sought after by early ceramic collectors internationally and possesses excellent long-term appreciation potential, making it a prime example of well-preserved Yuan Dynasty Longquan celadon.
