Dimensions: 15 cm (5.91 inches) high. Condition and Provenance: Excellent overall condition. Original lid fits the body perfectly. Minor signs of age and soil are visible on the rim and base. No hidden cracks or damage. From a private collection in Hong Kong. Description: This storage jar is from the famous Hutian Kiln of the Song Dynasty in China. The body is full and elegant, olive-shaped. Two tubular rings are symmetrically distributed on the shoulder for attaching a cord. The lid is original and decorated with a curled knob on top. The entire body is covered with the signature soft blue-green glaze of the Hutian Kiln, semi-transparent, silky smooth, and with a subtle sheen. The body is carved with flowing scrollwork, the decoration being deep and intricate. Near the base, upward-facing lotus petals in relief create a rich visual effect. The unglazed base of this porcelain jar shows a solid, dry layer of clay, covered with a layer of brown burial soil, a typical characteristic of Southern Song porcelain excavations. Complete Hutian porcelain jars with their original lids are extremely rare. This complete set of jars fully demonstrates the exquisite aesthetic style of Song Dynasty Hutian porcelain.
