拍品描述
Dimensions: 19 cm (7.48 inches) in diameter, 4 cm (1.57 inches) in height. An 18th-century Qing dynasty blue and white porcelain dish with a forged inscription on the base reading "Made in the Chenghua reign of the Great Ming Dynasty," decorated with double mirage dragons and the Eight Immortals motif. Condition and Provenance: This dish has an everted rim, shallow and rounded walls, and a finely crafted foot. The base bears a forged inscription reading "Made in the Chenghua reign of the Great Ming Dynasty," enclosed by a double blue circle. The center depicts two mirage dragons chasing a flaming pearl, surrounded by cloud patterns. The outer wall is decorated with motifs symbolizing the Eight Immortals, interspersed with scrolling foliage. The underglaze cobalt blue enamel is bright and vibrant, with distinct layers, a glossy and translucent glaze, and a pure white, fine, and dense body. This porcelain piece is well-preserved, without cracks, defects, or fine lines, only minor surface wear due to its age. No repairs, restorations, or later repainting are observed; all decorative brushstrokes are clear and sharp. This plate circulated through Hong Kong antique dealers and was acquired in 2024 by a Qing dynasty porcelain collector residing in Texas, USA. California, New York, and Texas were important global trading centers for Ming and Qing dynasty porcelain. Description: This mid-Qing dynasty blue and white porcelain plate, bearing the Chenghua mark on the base, is a fine example of 18th-century antique-style porcelain. The center of the plate is decorated with two winding dragons coiled around a burning pearl, surrounded by swirling cloud patterns. The brushstrokes are fluid and confident, and the dragons are powerful and vigorous. The outer surface of the plate is painted with the famous "Eight Immortals" motif, depicting the eight symbols of the Eight Immortals: sword, fan, fish drum, lotus, gourd, jade clapper, flower basket, and flute, interspersed with curling precious floral patterns. The decorative layout is exquisite, with balanced density and harmonious composition. The glaze is smooth and even, ideally with a pure white base glaze, contrasting sharply with the multi-layered cobalt blue, presenting a natural color gradient. The foot rim is exquisitely finished, forming a rounded "clay back" shape. The forged Chenghua mark on the bottom exhibits a typical mid-Qing dynasty calligraphic imitation style, directly reflecting the prevailing trend of venerating antiquities at the time. The porcelain body is dense and delicate, the shape perfectly symmetrical, the rim evenly curved, without deformation or depression. While Qing dynasty antique-style blue and white porcelain is not extremely rare, this piece stands out due to its flawless condition, the dual-theme decoration of centipede dragon and the Eight Immortals, and the exquisite painting technique. It is perfectly suited for display on a table and is also an excellent subject for studying the style of mid-Qing dynasty antique-style ceramics and underglaze blue techniques. This piece enjoys a high reputation among international collectors of Qing dynasty porcelain and is considered a highly collectible Qing dynasty blue and white decorative plate.
