Dimensions: Mouth diameter 3.2 cm, body diameter 11.5 cm, height 11 cm. Condition and Provenance: This pot is in excellent condition, with no cracks or damage to the spout, handle, or body. The celadon glaze retains its luster, although small, scattered burial spots are visible on the surface due to its age. The unglazed foot rim exhibits the characteristic rust-red firing marks of Five Dynasties porcelain. The spout and handle have not been reattached or subjected to any secondary glazing or artificial aging treatment. This pot comes from a family collection in Cleveland, Ohio, USA. This porcelain piece was exported to North America in the 1970s by a Japanese antique dealer and has been kept in the collector's collection of ancient Northern Chinese ceramics. Description: This carved celadon pot is a beautiful and practical decorative piece made in the Yaozhou kiln during the Five Dynasties period. The pot has a rounded and full shape, a small and tight mouth, a short and straight spout, an arched handle, and a concave foot rim, showcasing the rustic beauty characteristic of Five Dynasties pottery. The entire body of the pot is covered with a smooth olive-green glaze, the surface of which has a delicate orange-peel texture. The exterior is carved with deeply engraved, curling peony flowers, the petals and leaves meticulously depicted with a striking relief effect; the glaze is thinner at the edges of the carving, revealing the pot's body and creating a sharp contrast of light and shadow. The base is unglazed, revealing the solid clay body; the naturally formed rust-red firing marks at the foot are typical characteristics of Five Dynasties Yaozhou porcelain. Well-preserved Five Dynasties Yaozhou porcelain is quite rare. This pot, with its rounded and full shape and deeply carved peony, combines elegant form, exquisite glaze, and superb carving techniques, making it an important reference for the study of Northern Chinese celadon production and possessing extremely high aesthetic and collectible value.
