拍品描述
Dimensions: 7.8 cm (3.07 in) in diameter, 8.5 cm (3.35 in) in height, Yuan Dynasty Longquan celadon stemmed wine cup, 13th-14th century. Condition and Provenance: This cup is in excellent condition, without cracks or damage. The celadon glaze is generally well-preserved, with only slight signs of aging at the rim, and no glaze peeling. The exposed foot rim exhibits a natural reddish-brown rust color, characteristic of authentic aged clay. There are no signs of modern polishing, glaze repair, or artificial coloring. This piece was acquired in 2023 by a professional private collection of ancient ceramics in Chicago, Illinois, USA. Hong Kong was a major global trading center for pre-Ming Dynasty Chinese ceramics. Description: This museum-quality stemmed wine cup is a representative wine vessel of the Yuan Dynasty Longquan kiln, combining practical function and aesthetic value. It consists of a rounded body and a tall stem. The rim flares outwards with a neatly trimmed edge; the body curves downwards, transitioning to a slender and upright stem with a slightly flared base. The overall shape is symmetrical and elegant, with smooth lines. A thick layer of celadon glaze covers both the inner and outer surfaces, presenting a soft bean-green tone with a low-key and restrained luster, reflecting the top quality of Yuan Longquan porcelain glaze. The interior of the cup is entirely glazed, plain and undecorated, showcasing its beauty through the pure texture of the glaze. The circular foot ring is unglazed, revealing the solid grayish-white porcelain body, surrounded by distinct natural rust-red spots. The texture is dense and dry, bearing genuine signs of burial and age. Drinking vessels with stems were widely popular under the influence of Yuan Dynasty nomadic culture. Besides domestic use, they were also exported overseas in large quantities via the Maritime Silk Road. Plain Longquan drinking vessels with stems can be found in the antique market, but well-preserved pieces with bright glazes and perfect shapes are extremely rare. This stemmed cup has a symmetrical shape, a velvety smooth glaze, and a distinctive base, exhibiting clear characteristics of Yuan Longquan porcelain. It provides valuable material reference for the study of Yuan Longquan porcelain manufacturing techniques, medieval Chinese drinking customs, and ancient export ceramics. This piece is suitable for both ancient ceramics collection and indoor display on a table, possessing considerable artistic value and historical significance.
