拍品描述
Dimensions: 18.2 cm (7 1/8 inches) high, 4000-3000 BC; Condition and Provenance: Complete and undamaged, with naturally formed patina and rich crust, in excellent condition; private collection, New York, USA; Description: This chicken-bone white jade sun god statue is in a squatting posture with arms crossed in front of the chest, a pair of high, curved horns on its head, and pointed ears on its sides. The animal-shaped mask is carved in a primitive and simple style, with a typical grid pattern of Hongshan jade on the back. The surface of the jade is evenly distributed with calcified layers formed by burial, and adorned with soil patina. After thousands of years of burial, a dense and textured ancient surface has been formed. It was made into a sacred ritual idol for shamanistic communication with heaven and earth, and is an extremely rare jade artifact from the prehistoric Hongshan civilization.
