Dimensions: 13 cm wide at the opening, 18.5 cm high. Condition and Provenance: The brush pot is intact and undamaged, without any minor cracks, hidden damage, chips, or glaze loss. The underglaze blue decoration on all four sides is even, and the characters and seals are clear. The rim and outer glaze are well preserved. The underglaze blue mark on the base is clear and sharp. The foot rim shows only natural wear and minor stains from long-term storage. There are no signs of later decoration, polishing, repair, or refiring. This piece comes from a long-established private collector of Oriental art in Chicago, Illinois, USA. It was imported to North America in 2001 through a Hong Kong antique gallery and has been kept in the collector's collection of modern literati porcelain ever since. Description: This square-headed underglaze blue brush pot is a modern literati porcelain piece from Jingdezhen, in the style of Wang Bu. The body has a regular square shape and is glazed white inside. All four sides of the body are decorated with continuous underglaze blue bird songs, depicting bare branches in winter and birds perched and flying. With fluid brushstrokes, the tree trunks and rocks are depicted with lifelike realism, showcasing the free and unrestrained style of literati painting. The birds are vividly shaped, with distinct layers of feather texture. Each side is decorated with poetic running script and stamped with a red seal, perfectly blending painting, calligraphy, and seal art. The composition cleverly balances the realistic scene with the negative space. The underglaze blue watercolor washes create rich tonal variations, reflecting the unique aesthetics of Wang Bu's literati blue and white porcelain. A blue and white seal script mark is stamped at the center of the bottom.
