拍品描述

Dimensions: Height 7 cm, mouth diameter 4.3 cm, body width 8 cm. Condition and Provenance: This water jug is intact, without any fine cracks, hidden fissures, defects, or missing pieces. The original powdery celadon glaze is well preserved, with natural aging crackles. The mouth and foot are a natural reddish-brown, with only minor surface aging marks accumulated over hundreds of years. There are no signs of reglazing, polishing repairs, or artificial aging. This piece comes from a prestigious West Coast private collection in Seattle, Washington, USA. It was brought to North America in the 1990s through a European antique gallery and has long been part of the collector's collection of ancient celadon. Description: This small, talisman-shaped water jug is an exquisite scholar's object from the Southern Song Dynasty, its shape imitating ancient jade talisman ritual vessels. The body is square with a round inner surface, a short, straight neck, and four vertical raised ribs. The foot is low and compact. Its small, sturdy shape exudes a dignified and elegant rustic charm. A thick, evenly applied pale celadon glaze covers the body of the jar. Fine, naturally formed crackles are present both inside and out, with subtle, antique hues hidden within the cracks. The glaze is thinner at the rim, slightly reddish-yellow, while the foot rim is iron-brown—a typical characteristic of Longquan official kiln imitations of official kiln style. The interior is glazed throughout, with continuous crackles on the surface, the glaze color deep and soft. It inherits the ceremonial symbolism of the ancient jade jar while also fulfilling the practical function of a scholar's study. This type of small, jar-shaped water vessel is relatively rare and is a precious representative piece of Southern Song Dynasty Longquan official kiln craftsmanship.
