Dimensions: Height 23.2 cm, Width 17 cm (Height 0.761 ft, Width 0.558 ft). Condition and Provenance: The incense burner is intact, with upright handles and no cracks on the three legs. There is slight glaze wear on the rim and foot tips, due to historical use. The unglazed base shows traces of ancient clay and wear marks. The interior retains original kiln firing marks, without any chips, modern repairs, or chemical cleaning. This incense burner is from the private collection of R.K. in Dallas, Texas, USA. Mr. R.K. specializes in Yuan and Ming dynasty blue-and-white porcelain ritual vessels. Acquired in 2001, it has been passed down through his family and has always been kept in a temperature- and humidity-controlled warehouse, never appearing at auction or in a museum exhibition. Description: This is a Yuan dynasty blue-and-white porcelain three-legged incense burner made in the Jingdezhen kilns, used for burning incense in ancient sacrificial ceremonies. This incense burner has an everted rim with a pair of rectangular handles on either side. The neck is tapered, and the body is rounded and full, supported by three animal-faced hoof-shaped feet, each carved with animal-face motifs. The overall shape is robust and powerful, typical of Yuan dynasty incense burners. The outer rim of the rim is decorated with a continuous meander pattern. The neck is entirely painted with chrysanthemum patterns, with lush foliage. The main body of the burner features ruyi-shaped patterns, each containing dense wave patterns interspersed with galloping auspicious mythical beasts. The spaces between the patterns are filled with scrolling grass patterns. The lower part of the body near the feet is decorated with a diamond-shaped scrolling grass band; the outer edges of the three animal faces are decorated with underglaze blue animal-face motifs. Bold, free brushstrokes create a compact and layered visual effect. The interior of the burner base is unglazed, retaining the rough texture of clay and the original wheel-throwing marks. The exterior is covered with a soft blue-white glaze. The cobalt blue tone is grayish-blue, a typical characteristic of domestically produced cobalt pigments from the Yuan dynasty. With its bold brushstrokes and full composition, this piece embodies the concise and powerful artistic style of the Yuan Dynasty. The well-preserved Yuan Dynasty blue-and-white tripod incense burner, with its handles and animal feet perfectly intact, is quite rare and represents an important surviving example of Yuan Dynasty blue-and-white ritual vessels.
