Description: This square incense burner was made in the Jingdezhen kilns during the Yuan dynasty and was used for scholar's studies and sacrificial purposes. Its shape is a square barrel with an everted rim and slightly narrowed walls, supported by four animal-shaped feet, exhibiting a simple and rustic style. The entire body is covered with a bluish-white glaze with a soft luster. The four exterior sides are decorated with underglaze red flying geese, their bodies outstretched and their postures lively, accompanied by stylized floral patterns. The brushwork is free and unrestrained, embodying the typical aesthetics of Yuan dynasty porcelain painting. The uneven color and pigment diffusion of the underglaze red are characteristics of early underglaze red firing techniques. The interior is glazed with a bluish-white glaze. The bottom is unglazed, revealing a rough, earthy texture, with visible traces of trimming and accumulated patina. Square incense burners with animal feet are already rare, but those decorated with underglaze red flying geese are extremely rare. This incense burner embodies the firing techniques and artistic taste of Yuan dynasty underglaze red porcelain, possessing practical, collectible, and academic research value.
