拍品描述
Dimensions: 25 cm high. Condition and Provenance: The jar is intact with slight signs of aging on the rim. The glaze is glossy, exhibiting a natural cobalt blue hue. The base is unglazed, made on a rough blank, and retains the patina accumulated over time. No cracks, no repairs, no chemical cleaning; private collection in Los Angeles, California, USA, acquired in the 1980s, a family heirloom, with no prior auction, exhibition, or publication record. Description: This Yuan dynasty blue and white jar has a straight mouth, short neck, full shoulders, a bulging body, a narrowing lower section, and an unglazed, sandy base, typical of large Yuan dynasty storage jars. The neck is decorated with a band of coin patterns and clearly defined pendant lotus petals. The main body consists of three diamond-shaped partitions, each painted with a phoenix flying among flowers. The phoenixes are depicted vividly, with finely detailed feathers, surrounded by peonies and chrysanthemums. Intricate cloud patterns fill the background. The lower abdomen is divided by multiple horizontal bowstring patterns. Spiral patterns from the wheel-throwing process are visible on the inner wall. The unglazed base reveals the reddish-brown clay characteristic of Yuan dynasty porcelain, dotted with dark impurities. The vigorous lines and balanced composition cleverly blend auspicious floral and bird motifs with traditional border designs, embodying the grandeur of Yuan dynasty blue and white porcelain and making it a significant representative of thick-bodied porcelain from the Yuan dynasty.
